The dream of Sojourney was born in 2003. Elgyth’s well-known love of all things dwarven made the Forgotten Realms area of the Silver Marches a natural place to build a new world. The Silver Marches, with its wide-open frontier style and diverse dangers, is home to infamous dragons, marauding trolls and threats of orc invasions, as well as glorious centers of learning and grace such as Silverymoon, and sturdy centers of industry like Everlund and Sundabar. What more could a game builder and game master want, or need? And so it began.
Time passed, and staff changed. Team members came and went. Then the day came when Blaquemote and Protonator brought the infamous dungeons of Undermountain to expand the Sojourney family. Sections of the fabled City of Splendors, Waterdeep, anchored Undermountain and its history of death and danger, along with Skullport, a den of pirates, rogues and skulkers of all manner of being.
Silver Marches and Undermountain launched live in the fall of 2004, and both continued to grow and expand with each passing month.
Sojourney’s policy of not allowing Underdark races such as the drow or duergar left many players feeling that something was missing. Then, in the early spring of 2005, the server Menzoberranzan joined with Sojourney. The wicked venue of drow culture now provides endless possibilities for all of Sojourney players.
And still the journey continues with the long-awaited release of Neverwinter Nights 2. As part of our looking forward to that time, we thought long and hard about whether to continue with Undermountain and the Silver Marches. Ultimately, we decided a fresh change of pace, and location, would serve us all well. So, we decided to try our hand at another of the great untamed, and undocumented, facets of Faerun: The Bloodstone Lands of Vaasa and Damara.
We also decided that, instead of waiting until Neverwinter Nights 2 was released and then begin building our future, we would begin now, and so The Bloodstone Lands Prelude was built. This allows us to get scripts, story lines, plots and team ready for the launch of NWN2, thus, eliminating a lot of wasted time when all of us just want to get our hands on the new Toolset.
Walk with us into a brand new territory and forward into the future!
